Looking to fit the rotor to the bike now but on reading through Frick's Tech Digest I read that the rotors 'have a tendancy to self destruct'. Whilst the obvious option is to replace the one I have is it something that is a problem? The rotor I have is stamped 4 71 which I know is the month and year of manufacture. Lucas Pt no of 54212006. The rotor looks fine with no obvious signs that it will fall apart anytime soon. Your thoughts
It's over 50 years old

This would suggest that if it has lasted that long it's extremely unlikely that it will self destruct.
The reservation that I would have is the strength of the magnetism. I don't know whereabouts you are but Villiers Services, who are in the West Midlands, can remagnatise Lucas rotors. They probably do a postal service.
