I am having trouble adjusting the points gap on my K2F magneto on my 650SS. I cannot get a spanner to fit the locking or adjuster nuts. I am using an old Terrys magneto spanner set and a size 6 is too big and size 5 too small. I have an old non running magneto and the size 6 fits the nuts on that. The mag has recently been refurbished and the guy that did that said the nuts should be 4BA. My spanner set is 50 years old with the classic size 1-8 spanners, feeler gauge and screwdriver. I am assuming it is BA gauge. Don't know if Terrys made them in other specs. I don't have any other BA spanners or nuts at hand to check this but will try to do this. Just wondering if anyone had come across different or non standard points sets in K2F magnetos that might explain my problem or have I just got the wrong spanners.
You could just file out one…

Remanufactured (modern)…
Remanufactured (modern) replacement bolts can often be made from metric hexagon bar stock as old Imperial stock is increasingly hard to find. Could that be the problem?

I don't think...
... the mag nuts are actually BA, at least the set of Terry's mag spanners I have are not. I do have a set of BA spanners as well and they are appreciably different sizes - I don't know what the numbers (and letters) on the Terry's set are.
I would also expect the Terry's spanners to be hardened so filing wouldn't really be an option. A dremel with a little cutting disc might do the job.

Thank you all for your…
Thank you all for your helpful comments. I am surprised that my set of magneto spanners don't fit the magneto nuts. I will play around with some files and discs and see if I can make a spanner fit.

You could just file out one of your too small spanners , would only take a few minuits if you have a small vice and file. No vice ? clamp spanner to worktop with mole wrench.
