Hi guys
The screw is missing from the steering damper on my 1956 ES2. It goes into the lower fork yolk to prevent the bottom plate rotating.
Can anyone confirm the thread. I suspect 5/16 bscy but my tap won’t start in it. The other little puzzle (well for me) is that there is about a 1/4 “ gap between the steel damper plate and the yolk.
should there be a spacer fitted ?

I've never...

The thread is 5/16" bscy. The original bolt has a 3/8" shoulder, no spacer required. The bolt also secures a guide for the front brake cable.
