Harness tidy up to prepare for the Tri Spark Rectifier/Regulator.
All the old electrical components now removed and ready for the wire tidy up!
My logic dictates that if I run all the remaining main “loom” Red wires to the frame and at the same time join all the remaining “loom” Brown/Blue wires together, then I should be good to go?
I am aware that a lot of electrical loops are part of the loom design and all earthing points are via the frame.
I do not want to carry out testing of individual combinations of Brown/Blue and Red earth wires to see the redundant circuits.
The frame is used as a…

Positive Earth
Thanks for the feedback John!
The Red wires to earth are not my primary concern!
The redundant Brown/Blue wires which appear to be on the same loop do concern me!
Brown (N)
Blue (U)
N/U cables from battery (negative) go to the following and may be looped?
Capacitor (removed).
Rectifier (removed).
Power Point (remaining).
Ignition switch (remaining).
I am aware of the direct earthing (non wire) of the indicators and rear tail light.

Tri Spark = sorted!
All sorted with the Tri Spark Rectifier / Regulator - with a surprise result!
Old stuff removed:
Rectifier
Zenor Diodes (2 off) MK3
Capacitor
Component to component loop wires removed.
Harness RED wires GROUND to frame.
Harness Brown/Blue wires looped together.
Tri Spark RED wire GROUND to frame.
Tri Spark Black wire to NEGATIVE on battery (after fuse)
Tri Spark YELLOW wires (2 off) to White/Green & Yellow/Green wires from old Rectifier.
All working fine with the surprise result of the dash RED warning light working to show Charge (OFF) or no Charge (ON) as original function = happy days!
I did read somewhere that the dash warning light would not work with the Tri Spark unit, but as I rev the bike from tick over, the red light goes out as it did previously.

The frame is used as a collection point, but other than the tail light bulb earth and the indicator bulb earths (which can and should be corrected) there will be red wires at the collection points that have a direct route back to the battery so the frame does not have any current running through it. Grease and paint are not good conductors and all Lucas harnesses from the late 60's do not use the frame for earth.
