Hi. When I rebuilt the gearbox on my 1960 Dommie 99 I replaced the kickstart shaft, the bush and fitted an X-ring oil seal. I thought that would definitely prevent any oil leaks from the kickstart but the oil is leaking out badly. Has anyone got any ideas on how to fix this oil leak without major engineering work?
Thanks

Thanks David. They look like good suggestions. I didn’t check the depth of the seal groove so I’ll try the silicon method.

Could be that someone had deepened the recess to fit a non std seal ?.

I don't know if mine is standard but the groove for the seal is much deeper than the seal. I filled the groove with silicone sealant before twisting the x-ring in and assembling. No leak since. Also, clear tape on the splines when replacing the cover, to make sure the seal wasn't damaged.
