atlas petrol tap thread size

Forums

Need to buy a new petrol tap for my atlas can somebody tell me the correct thread tap size please

1/4 BSP.

A common size and thread for petrol taps.

Problem with Slimline tanks is there's only one tap and taps with a reserve are much harder to find.

My solution is to either keep topping up the tank or set the trip as a warning to top up.(If running without a reserve.) Many petrol taps are affected by ethanol and can fail if using E5 / E10.

Good Luck.

On my 99 I use an orriginal Ewarts single plunger  tap (with reserve) and keep a spare  plunger  (new cork fitted) , lasts many  years  with  Esso fuel.  Eventually the cork wears loose from the tiny rust particles from the tank. i  keep a stock of corks . The Atlas uses a Ewarts twin pull tap similar to that fitted to some Triumphs,The same corks fit although the plungers are different . The 1/4 BSP thread  looks considerably bigger than 1/4"  I think BSP are sized by the bore . Most confusing to the unwary.
