Thank you

Feked
Bought mine from Feked https://www.feked.com/anti-wet-sump-oil-pipe-tap-with-switch-magneto-or-coil-ignition-systems.html
Works a treat and no more wet sumping, but couldn't get the engine started one day and guess what - the tap was still switched off.

It would be unwise to wire it into the feed from the battery to the ignition. On coil ignition systems connect in line to the switched live feed to the ignition system.

Hi Ashley. Why would it be unwise to wire the oil tap switch into the wire from the battery feed to the ignition? That’s the way Pazon advised me to do it for my Surefire electronic ignition.
Thanks

Tony, If the electric…
Tony,
If the electric component of the valve failed or the associated wiring / terminals, it would cut power to everything, if you are riding at night and that happened it would not be nice. During the day, no brake light or indicators to move across lanes on a motorway.
It might be convenient to wire in series with the feed from battery to ignition switch, but it is not the safest way.

When I ran an electronic…
When I ran an electronic system, I took a lead from the output side of the ammeter. The original wiring to lights remained uninterrupted. The new wire left the output side and went through two switches in series - a new ignition switch fitted to a bracket below the seat on the RH side, and from there to the oil switch, and from that to the ignition box (the RITA amplifier in my case). |With coil ignition, surely it goes in series that used to go direct to the coil after the original bike switch (terminal 14?). So the oil switch does not carry the lighting power.

No need to run any power consuming items such as lighting systems or horn through the oil shut off electrical switch. Regardless of which one you get simply follow their wiring instructions .

Thanks Ashley - that makes a lot of sense. I’ll check my wiring and re-run the battery feed as per your suggestion.
