I have had the petrol tank for my 1953 Dommi 88 rechromed and now need to paint the polychromatic grey panels on each side and down the top of the tank. Does anyone know where I could obtain templates for this?
Unfortunately I'm in Canada, so a trip to somewhere like the National Motorcycle Museum is out of the question.
Thanks in advance.
Good idea! Thanks - I'll…

RGM Norton sell two…
RGM Norton sell two different shapes of vinyl tank border overlays. Probably not authentic shape for yours though. We're they painted freehand originally? The prewar ones seem to look more variable than postwar, so maybe they somehow did them differently?

Thank you, David. I think…
Thank you, David. I think that the pin striping would have been painted by hand for sure, but I don't know about the panels. I have photos of several Dommies of that era, but who knows if they are correct - or located in the correct area of the tank - and that is difficult to determine from photos taken at oblique angles!
I notice that Classic Transfers sell a transfer of the pin striping that looks to be the correct shape.
There seems to be very few photos of original bikes (from back in the day when they were new) that clearly show how the tank panels were painted. If only someone had an original, unmolested tank !!

If you get a template
I would like a copy, too. My tank is incorrectly painted.

try emailing the musuem: they have folk who restore bikes so someone could be encouraged to do some templates??
