I am still trying to find the thread forms used on my 650SS. At the moment I am specifically looking for the thread used on part number 04-3441 clutch stud, is it whitworth or BSF or ...?
Philip H pointed me towards the heavy twins compendium, it was interesting and useful except this stud was not mentioned.
I have a mertic/whitworth thread gauge but cannot find a BSF gauge. Any suggestions?
I am thinking of buying a range of various Imperial nuts and bolts in order to find out threads by selection.
Is there a thread gauge chart I can buy.
Thanks in advance. Roger

Your Whitworth thread gauge…
Your Whitworth thread gauge is also BSF, they are the same thread form just the diameters differ. Buy a Zeus book, a little pocket book, it will list most standard threads, BSW, BSF, BSP, UNF & C and pipe threads. BSC are nearly all 26 TPI and have their own thread form. Best of luck.
Dick.

Online
Roger.......I got most of my Nuts, Bots, Studs & Threads information online. There are stacks of sites that offer this information free for most common Imperial and Metric threads. Also there are a few sites which offer thread comparison data which is quite handy for finding modern WW equivalents among UNF/UNC offerings.

Most likely to be 26 tpi cycle , this fine thread used a lot on steel bolts and studs to resist vibration . Often linked up with whitworth when going into alloy castings..
