Can anybody confirm or refute that the Primary Chaincases for the dynamo and Alternator Featherbed framed Dominators are the same length or different?
I have one for my 1956/57 '99' that I have always thought was the right one but playing about I noticed that it is about 1/4" shorter than one for an alternator fitted bike, so either the one I have is wrong, or they made it a little bit longer at the front to accommodate the stator, in which case the sealing band must be different, too?
Thanks, Jonathan that…
Thanks, Jonathan that answers my question, the overall linear length is the same at 18 3/4", so the one that came with it does not belong, I wonder if it came from a 77?, anyway I shall need to find a correct one.

The difference was the size of the bulge over the crankshaft? Dynamo having a small bulge for the sprocket large bulge to house the stator.
1/4” difference in length, suggests 1/2” in. Sealing band length. To stretch to that would not be an issue in the given length. If it’s too long, cut and superglue, with joint in top run will solve the issue.
I just measured the linear length of a D and A I have and they are the same at 18 3/4” but the circumference of the A model is indeed just under 1/2” longer at 47”.
