Cylinder head work company recommendations

Forums

Stripped the head on the 99 tonight and it has a few problems,

one loose guide, one broken and loose guide, rocker spindles not too tight in head ( not that loose either, thinking of RGM spindle lock kit here). Also some of the spindle cover tapped holes have been opened up to 5/16 would like them welded up and put back to 1/4”, thankfully exhaust and spark plug threads are ok. Looking for UK company recommendations for fitting new guides, recut seats (think they are not too bad but would replace if advised) and doing the oval cover tapped holes.

Thanks

Pete

Loose guide can be fixed with an oversize .  The Rgm kit works  ,just re tighten a couple of times and locktite cover caps .   re-thread kits are availiable. for diy. You might be able to get one of the stainless suppliers to make you 8 reduced hex bolts  with your existing thread size.   I may have a contact who can do this.

Yes i can find reduced hex screws but the larger size won’t pass through the RGM plates and don’t want to change them. Thinking of welding in ali plugs with 1/4 whit holes. Thank you

I had a crank reground and rebore done at H T Howard & Co in Slough a couple of years ago. Plenty of "classic" bike cranks, cylinder heads etc visible in the reception area waiting collection when I went there. Seem to know what they're talking about.

Been on phone to Howards today, waiting call back, can’t believe they are still going, my old Dad used to go there 50 years ago!!!!
