Standard jubilee panels (non bathtub)

Hi Richard,

They are called "Styling Panels" and as you say, a small batch was made by the NOC a while back - but sadly they are out of stock at the moment. We hope to commission a new batch to be made, but it will not be for a while yet.

Its quite a complex shape to make - even though it looks quite simple.
I'm guessing the originals were simply stamped out - but when we have them made, each side is made up of 2 halves - because of the complex curves involved.

I need a pair of these for my Navigator.  I assume Jubilee and Navigator are the same?

Its great to hear the club has had them made, how do we go about persuading the club to make another batch?

I know it seems counter-intuitive these days, but a 'wanted' in the Roadholder magazine, leaving a landline number, (remember them?) has been very successful for me.

The parts you want may well be in the back of a cluttered garage belonging to the RH readership, and perhaps your request on the computer will never be seen.

This generation are always suspicious of spivs with fangled untraceable mobile phones.

If Anna JD succeeds in making a pair of styling panels, I would be interested in buying a pair.

The Styling Panels are the same for Jubilee/Navi & Electra, with the exception that the Electra ones have to fit around the Frame Strengtheners - an easy mod with a saw & a file..

Our present supplier wants to charge £350 a pair, so we are looking around at present for better value.

Hi Andy, I appreciate that small production runs are difficult to make a profit on but £350 a pair!!!!!  But it's really good news that the club spares team are looking at replacements.   I know it's completely off this topic but I notice that the cam followers I need for my engine rebuild are no longer in stock which is a real shame when they wear and create such a rattle.   I seem to remember the club had a batch manufactured after they became unobtainable.   Are you aware of any plans to manufacture another batch?

Mine are both on the bike at the moment - I’m happy to take them off and make cardboard patterns but only if it’s a last resort (bit difficult to get into the garage at the moment!) and no-one has a pair “off bike” they can use for it.

Let me know on here if they’re needed and I’ll spend the time removing them etc

Not surprised at the £350 price for a pair, there is a lot of work involved.

Another one make club spares scheme sells a pair of leg shields for, I think, £230.  A very much simpler shape, still took a long time to find a manufacturer to do it at a reasonable(?) price.  I believe they are looking to have other sheet metal parts made, difficult to find anyone interested in doing the work.

I don't have a lightweight,  but if a mould were taken from an 'ok' set- not ones with concours paint obviously - then getting fibreglass replicas made should be relatively easy, at a much lower cost and the profile would be perfect. Or would this be unacceptable to owners/ potential buyers?

I do know that in Morini-land, original side panels are like hens teeth, and fibreglass replicas are perfectly acceptable.

I would have thought that once painted,  then very few people would even realise.

I have a pair off the bike although they need a little bit of work around the mounting holes. I’m not sure how I would make a cardboard template ... the shape is quite complex. A glassfibre mould would be easier to either use for grp panels or to make steel ones from? I’m happy to give it a go but am busy building my Norton Metisse against a deadline at the moment and it’s the simple things that are holding me up!

hello well when I get something to work from  I can make in ether carbon fiber gel coat or steel sheet the choices is yours but not cost as much as 350 not even a 1/4 of this figure  and  I find out what postage will be  we will work this one together  So stay tuned  Yours  Anna j 

I suggest a boat builder obviously because it is their job.  They will make a better piece than an amateur.  No-one can make a mould of a part without a pattern in the first place so some-one would have to lend them original panels.  Simples!
