I have Chopped Monoblocs, bought them off NOC! Now they were probably fitted to a Triumph before, ( spit into the pontoon), the very mention of the name brings a bitter taste!
But seriously, I need to strip them down and remove the jet bloc, when I half-heartidly pushed the slide up, ( complete with jet block), it tightens up at the top of the carburettor,so what I am asking is how tight should they be and how much force should I apply to push them out to the carburettor body top?
I would also like to try and fit a filtration system to reduce grit intake are there any options out there for a filtration system of some sort.

Cheers Paul, I haven't got round to it ,but I was going to put them in boiling water and tease the slides out without putting much pressure on them!

Clearance new about 1 to 2 thou, so should slide out easily. The bodies often distort as the Zinc reacts with modern fuels and their additives. This became apparent in the early seventies, discussed in magazines of the day. Amal altered the Alloy on the Concentrics, used Viton Rubber tipped float needles, and then brought out the Mk2's to cut fuel costs and emissions! I had a set of brass plated slides, seems others plated them too because they get so worn they rattle with the engine vibration.
