From various discussions about front brake LH or RH side and earlier one over speedo cable routing. Andy Sochanik put two photos on another post (Navigator Silencers) of post 64 Jubilees - one a USA returned original & a period advert. I’ve included both pictures here.
Both show the brake on LH side (which means there should be a longer brake cable available? The usual ones only just fit for the RH side). Plus, there appears to be a clear routing for the speedo cable along the top of the frame and down to the drive not down the frame and along to the drive from the bottom.
So - is it take your choices and fit how it shows or how it’s expected, having gone down the route of originality with mine (65 Jubilee) are there people out there who’ll nit pick if mine are not as below?

As you can see - both variants were used.
Looks like early (Birmingham) bikes all had the Speedo cable under the engine, and the front brake on the R/Hand side. At some point, it would appear, (in Plumstead), the speedo cable routing changed to under the tank & the brake moved to the left. Cost cutting on speedo cable? Is the route shorter? Hence cheaper cable?
The front forks are equipped to locate the brake either side.

Cheers Andy, looks like I’ve…
Cheers Andy, looks like I’ve now got to find a longer brake cable and swap my wheel/brake/forks around. Hey ho, that’s the way things go I suppose!

I think I experimented with…
I think I experimented with the speedo cable route, and found the one under the tank slightly longe r it also resulted in a couple of sharp bends, so I bought a shorter one and went down under the engine.

My speedo cable is under the engine,,,,
My speedo cable is under the engine on the right hand side and is the perfect length. I bought it from the NOC shop. Mine is a '64 Plumstead Jubilee according to the frame number.

Brake cable part number…
Brake cable part number listed in parts book is identical to the Matchless G2 part number, it’s about 2 inches longer than the standard one from the shop. Received, swapped the forks & brake round to LH side with brake cable a much better fit now with mudguard & stay looking “correct”. Moved the speedo cable to route under the tank and down the rear shock - I see what you mean Dan about sharp bends but eased it as best I can. Only riding it (once engine finished etc) will tell how it behaves though!
