The Deafening Silence...

The company website shows V4 machines being collected by their new owners in December 2018.  Other than brief reviews in Motorcycle News and Bike magazine (which gave the £44,000 machine 8 out of 10) there has been no news about the V4 in either specification.  I have not seen one mention of the machine on this forum, no reviews, no feedback, no questions, no gleeful satisfaction.  It's almost 8 months since owners received their machines - where are they and why have we heard nothing?

Yours, mystified in Leicestershire but expecting this thread to be removed shortly, Colin Cheney.

... comes from the investors who paid out the cash for them and promptly locked them away as potential appreciating assets.  I know of someone with two, a plumber with the hope of a  handsome return....   hope he can still solder.

...isn't from the bikes if the road tests are to be believed.

Why do Norton send out press bikes with 'silencers' that will never pass any noise test?

Come on now, having a loud bike is so last century.

Maybe the absence of discussions in the forum is due to the fact that the modern big fours are very rare birds. If their owners are members of the club and needs advice or want to share their experiences, things will change. It's yet no place in the forum else than in "General". No place for the modern twin either. Not in "heavy twins" as it is a fairly light machine by modern standards. Maybe a website suggestion in the future.

But prewar Inters are even rarer birds and there is a lot of discussion of them.

On loud bikes. The flourishing market for slipon silencers for modern bikes prove that the tradition of loud bikes is still very alive.

Was thinking of the new 650, forgot that the 961 is a twin and modern.

As if to prove my point entirely, after 24 hours, nobody has come forward to speak about their purchase of a Norton 1200cc V4 machine.

Colin,

On other forums there is comment about those that have been collected in the past couple of weeks, though not sure when these were built. There is even photos of a celebrity chef out and about at coffee stops on one.

The law of averages suggest with the great membership number, few use the forum for one reason or another, much like those attending branches, ride regular, have a computer etc. so it may have been a case of the question being asked to a small audience, and not of all 5,000 members.
