Hi All,
My 72 750 has been worked on by an excellent mechanic I have found in North London. He has revived the beast and done a lot of work on it. He too it for a test ride today and commented that the forks seem sto twist when the front brake is applied The brake is an RGM Lockheed with the large disc. he suggested looking into a fork brace to overcome this.
Any suggestions from anyone who has done this and whether there are outlets for such a thing.

Norman Hyde brace
I had one on my 850 as the fork legs twisted after upgrading the brake. It was fiddly to fit but worked well. I previously tried an RGM one but that was a terrible design which used paper shims(!) to adjust the spacing.
I'm not sure either are available these days.

Pitfalls of the AN web-site
The AN web-site is by far the best of the UK's "big three", and is brilliant if you know you want a left-hand widget for your '72 Interback; just navigate to the parts diagrams for your model, and away you go.
It is also has a good search mechanism for general enquiries—up to a point, as Nick O'Hare has discovered.
Searching the entire site may bring up one or more options for left-hand widgets, but unless you have a good knowledge of the Norton parts numbering system there is no way to tell if any given widget fits a particular model.

... to a point - the exploded parts diagrams are excellent. However, their stock of singles parts is not good - but what they have is good quality.

Fastec fork brace
Just seen this and thought I would chime in.
Hyde fork braces are brilliant but not available these days. I have had one on my 750 for many years and it makes heavy braking with a single disc and enjoyable thing.
Fastec currently off two kinds neither of which are much use. I have tried both. Even the deep kind which requires a lot of mudguard reforming - and it looks naff.
But they have been very keen to produce one. I've have been working with them to perfect the shape of their bolt on kind (pictured above) and the first is nearing production. I also leant them my Hyde fork brace and I believe they are going to produce on along these lines.
The Hyde fork brace requires removal of the forks to fit and it can take quite a few goes to find the sweet point where everything is nicely aligned. The Fastec kind should be a straight forward bolt on but will never look quite as sexy!

Fork Brace
Before you spend a lot dosh just check the yoke fastenings are all tight and wheel spindle is properly secured in the fork leg by the pinch bolt. Don't over tighten the bolt you can easily break off the lug. The torque setting is only 10flbs and sometimes its not quite enough.

Hyde fork brace
Just seen this thread. I have a Hyde brace that was fitted to my Commando with a Norvil disc setup, which I am willing to sell if that helps?

Simplest fix would be a thicker centre mudguard brace, I think there is a Norman Hyde brace around but it's hard to setup on alignment which affects the fork action if not right.
