Blast media

I only use glass oxide ( glass beads ) which is not very aggressive against paint - much faster and easier to use chemical paint stripper first then bead blast. I have no experience with more aggressive media such as emory.

Garnet is the usual media for fast paint removal from a ferrous base but there are many grades. Glass beads, typically 30 microns, are OK but less aggressive / slower removal rate of unwanted material, but beware don't get this stuff near your eyes.

Once you reach base metal with whatever media you select, get the part painted or better still passivated with a zinc phosphate (Zn3(PO4)2) dip for a few minutes, rinse, dry and paint. Unprotected freshly blasted ferrous material will almost rust before your eyes!

For sensitive materials E.G Carb bodies try Walnut husks (seriously!).
