Any views on the best adhesive or double sided tape (?) to use for sticking the knee pads onto a freshly panted/lacquered tank?
Also, does one spread it all over the pad or simply round the edges? They are slightly concave in the inner faces.

1955 Es2 knee grips
George,
I used Evostick contact adhesive on my stick on knee grips. I marked the outline on the tank, then spread a thin layer of adhesive to the tank and the roughened rubber knee grip, waited as per instructions, then carefully applied them. I made sure there was good adhesion at the top edge to prevent rainwater getting in behind.
On the ES2 tank it was a chrome finish, but I've just done a similar thing on a Domi tank that has a painted finish, both seems to stick well.

The only thing that worked for me is a product called " Shoe Goo " meant for repairing shoes -
I tried several silicone based adhesives without success . I don't know if it is available in the UK.
As in Philip's case , my tank is also chrome . Whichever product you chose I would test it in an inconspicuous place ( under the tank ?? ) to test it's compatibility with your finish . Also be sure to remove any mold release residue from the rubber with an appropriate solvent - then scuff and install.

My tank should, by rights, be chromed but I've had it sprayed a sort of silver/grey plus lacquer (cheaper) so it sounds like a bit of rubbing down will be required plus the adhesive.

Should have mentioned, Ian, there are no holes in the tank for screws. Hence my having to use adhesive. Also for Richard - Shoe Goo is available in the UK but seems to be manly for shoe repairs (No - really!) so are you happy that it will adhere to a rubbed down, lacquered metal tank?

Hi George, I thought the pads would be secured by 2 screws on your ES2. If you need to use adhesive CT1 is very good, although I haven't yet used it for this application. It will give you a chance to position the pad before it cures.
