Boyer Kit and wiring up

Forums

Hello fellow Nortonists--it is some months  since I did anything to the Navigator project, work and having the heads off two other bikes etc,

I am about to start wiring the bike up,  I have the two old coils--they were mounted one on top of the other another under the front of the tank,  A previous owner  had welded a bracket across the two tubes.  I have cut it in two and plan to keep the coils where I found them,  They are 6 volt Wico pacy items--is there any difference to be observed using them with a Boyer kit as I would two Lucas coils?

My electrical systems tend to all the same--I use regulator rectifiers.  I have one I bought off the net to regulate the 200watt single phase stator (Lucas stator Wipac rotor)  there is a loss in power I gather but--this rotor seems to be capable of kicking out more power that the three phase ones on the Triumph,

I have fitted a 7 inch front lamp and have a halogen bulb.  I am pretty familiar with Brit bike electrics (but my soldered joints often let me down),

Is there anything I should know on the oddities front--I can half remember there being something about the coils.

Also--if anyone wants my old advance retard and alternator stator they can have them

cheers

Do you have a number for the biggest 12v battery that will fit into the battery carrier?

Also--how did you seal around the alternator wires coming out the back of the primary chain case.  My  newer (1970s) Triumphs have rubber boots etc--my older one (1960s) takes creativity with silicone sealant.

The Norton cannot use a rubber boot as far as I can see--what  did you use?

Hiya

The coils were piggy backed under the tank originally, they were bolted to two tabs on the frame.

I used black silicone where the wires exit the chaincase, but think the club sells the rubbers. I bought some Lucas style bullet connectors but they are as hopeless as they ever were and I am changing them to the properly crimped plastic coated connectors as used on jap bikes.

Which headlamp did you use? I’m still looking for a 61/2 inch one ( I have the smaller earlier one to swap)

i used a motobatt battery the number is another thread somewhere if you search!  ....... https://www.nortonownersclub.org/node/7206

Hello Dan,

Thanks for that--there seems to be two that would do

I had an old Lucas 7 headlamp so I used that.   I have a BSA front end,, home made silencers and it it never I suspect going to be a standard bike The same one as all my other bikes (or most of them--I think the Rickman's shell is from an early 1970s Suzuki),

Happy new new year to all in the Norton owners club and motorcyclists everywhere.

I have got some wiring done this holiday but if I touch the Norton--something happens to another--The BSA's rockerbox started pouring out oil.  Then--when I fixed it-- one of the Triumphs stated the same thing.

I have been fitting a brake light switch and have seen another drama unfold.

Still we slowly advance.

Cheers

to All
