Best Boyer for Commando

I had a Pazon system which worked well. It was supposed to be better at low voltages but the Boyer may have been modified to negate that by now.

I prefer the Pazon unit, in my opinion better than the Boyer in terms of build quality

I've just replaced a Mark 3 Boyer Bransdon on my 1968 Commando with a Pazon. I have retained the original coil set up and have found that starting has improved but with no noticeable difference in running.

There are three Boyer units to choose from, in terms of everyday performance I doubt if you would see any difference. The MkIII Boyer is well 'dead' in the water as far as a new product. We have the MKIV which gets rid of a timing scatter aggravated by low/flat batteries. The Pazon is indeed better made by previous persons who worked for Mr Bransden so they should produce a better kit. But is it worth the extra cost? only you can decide. Again the Smart fire will be a better system but I doubt you will see the benefits unless you are very discerning.

I have been using a boyer for 15 years with no problems, I check the wiring every now and then for chaffing and rubbing and to ensure it has not become trapped or damaged by road debris. I would buy Boyer again. The electric start will require a battery with substantial cranking amps. The better quality lead acid batteries for the MKIII ( also used on other makes ) now have massive cranking power compared the original battery, but I do not know if it will fit the 750 battery tray.

No matter which system you chose make sure the wiring is in good condition with tip top earth connections. A dodgy earth will destroy any of the systems.
