Looking for some up to date info on 12 volt conversion for my Jubilee. Whats the best units for these bikes.ThanksJohn

And this is the wiring diagram how I wired my Navigator. I only used the light switch in the lamp housing. I kept the ignition switch without wires in the lamp just for the look and added a Lucas ignition switch with key under the left side of the tank.

I used this modern rectifier/regulator unit , later I mounted it to the backside of the centre channel.

The same is in my Norton Commando, works fine so far!

Iâm running 12v with the kitfrom Al, all running well so far, well except for the oil leaks and I canât blame the electrics for that!

Thanks for your replies.

I have the Deluxe Jubilee. Perhaps I could fit the ignition switch on the side panel just below the tank. Are this switches rainproof. Ulrich, which Lucas switch did you fit.

John, I used a surplus Lucas ignition switch from my commando.

I mounted the switch underneath the left front end of the tank, I bolted a home made bracket for it on one of the two bolts holding the frame rails. I will use a rubber boot to make it rainproof.

Sorry, no pics of it, at the moment I am disabled at home with a broken left hand and my workshop is 6 miles away..

Oh no Uli what happened? I am planning to fit just a switch but perhaps on the other side to keep it out of the way of the petrol pipe.

I have fitted a similar rectifier regulator but under the seat.

Well, the TLS brake on my Commando blocked and I went off in downtown traffic at about 25 mph.

I am planning to fit just a switch but perhaps on the other side to keep it out of the way of the petrol pipe.

My switch is below the front left end of the tank, no interference with the petrol pipe.

John, further to the above I followed Al's excellent advice outlined above to convert my Navigator to 12v using a modified new 6v loom and new original Wipac swithces, his voltage regulator / rectifier, one of his capacitors and my original 6v Wipac alternator which lasted about 12 months.   Evenutially it died so I replaced it with a new 12v Lucas RM 21 alternator stator (shop carefully, I found them advertised from between about £65 and £110!!!) and the original Wipac rotor even though the clearance is a little wide but this doesn't effect charging enough to matter (the Lucas RM21 rotor doesn't fit the crankshaft).    At the same time I converted to Pazon electronic ignition using my original Wipac coils.   The whole job was reasonably straight forward using Al's wiring diagram and advice and Pazon's well written instructions.  Frankly it has completely transformed the bike which not only starts first kick, ticks over like a swiss watch, runs far more smoothly, pulls harder to the sort of top speeds you see in period road tests and feels happier and quieter but the lights are actually up to safely riding at night!    Not cheap but money well spent and having owned several Jubilees anything that helps the performance is worth doing!
