"NAVIGATOR" for sale on Ebay.

Forums

There is currently a 1961 "Navigator" for sale on Ebay at 3995 GBP, See if you can spot all the items which are obviously wrong such as Jubilee front forks/wrong silencers. Even the very Jubilee forks are made up from bits-such as early 59/60 ears and headlight (with the wrong switches) but the chrome embellishers from 1961. But it has a twin leading shoe brake.

Obviously it doesn't have such items such as styling panels or tank badges.

It would be overpriced at half the price. I think it has been around for a long time.

DVLA have it as a Navigator. In the past when Navigators were cheap the forks were removed and used for specials. Dont think its worth it at less than half price.

That's a cracking combination Dan which I always hankered after on mine as a Yoof! Did you use a Navigator front frame member and does the extra weight noticeably effect performance much?

Hi Nick, Yes I used a Navi front frame member, I havenât noticed any loss of power but have noticed an increase in braking performance! but I now have enough Navi bits to build a complete bike so the Jub will be going back to standard.

The Roadholders and 8" brake transform the handling, braking and looks of the bike don't they! I still remember that feeble front brake and spindly forks..... Good luck with the Navigator build - for all the frustrations I love the Navigator and in good condition, well set up and with 12v electrics and electronic ignition it is a surprisingly sprightly, usable and enjoyable ride! A friend has just bought a very original 1961 3TA and I am looking forward to comparing the two!

Let me tell you a story-some while ago when I was doing a bit of hands on work on motorcycles I was asked to sort out the electrics on a 197 Francis Barnet, having had one of these a 'a few years back' and now owning a big red Moto Guzzi (Norton 750 resting) I deemed it within my prerogative to mutter about the shortcomings of the FB! On further thought I realized my smaller bike was an Electra!! So I shut up.
