For the 500T buffs. I believe the 500T was produced from 1939.
Is there a record of their numbers? my bike is 217xx I believe it left the factory around Feb 39. I have checked on line but it is not specific. I take it that 217xx must be an early production number.
My mistake it should read 1949 not 1939

Thanks Charles, I have read that a 500T appeared in December 1947 (following the dismal antics of the 350T) but it and the 1948 ones were for works riders.I am led to believe the production model started in Jan 1949. But then again I am not sure. I am sure someone has a record of the first 500T. I shall continue to dig and see what I find.

Having gone through some information I have I found that in 1948 17 500Ts were made(for the 1949 production). In 1949 one with frame number 21500 was made (works bike). My bike was dispatched on 1.3.1949, The earliest number I can find for a D3T (500T) is 19500 from October 1948 again a works bike. 500T numbers seem to have no sequence. My bike number is 217**

Have a look at the history section of this web site. It confirms that the 500T was the product of Rex MacCandless and Artie Bell and was built from 1948. There were earlier Trials and Scrambles Nortons .
