I see that Gasgacinch is recommended by some for use as gasket goo, searching this website I don't see it mentioned except for use with flame-ring head gaskets, in 2009. While I'd be interested to know if anyone here has any experience using it on gaskets, I notice that it says on the tin that it's also useful for 'belt dressing': apparently, when used sparingly, it 'takes up slack and reduces flapping'. I have a belt drive and am tempted to try it, but then again it's adjusted right, so no slack, and I'm not aware of any flapping. Any thoughts? TIA

Good point! A local specialist in classic VWs sells it, so I thought it might be more familiar over here. Forums, fora â I wouldn't insist on either in English!

For the record, opinion over at accessnorton is that Gasgacinch would cause the sort of belt we use in our primaries etc. to deteriorate because of solvent content â but apparently it's good for leather belt drives. Cheers.

As Gascacinch is essentially an American product and this is a British based forum, it's not surprising that it gets mentioned very little. I would take a look at one of the US based forums (fora?).
