NOC confirmation of age of my 16H

Hi, I have recently rejoined the NOC after a 12 year lapse in sanity. Three months ago I took possession of my grandfather's 1953 16H from my brother and registered in his name. It has never been out of our family from new. After many years faithful service with a double adult sidecar in 1975 my father rebuilt the 16H as a solo but had to replace the frame due to damage sustained from sidecar abuse. He unfortunately didn't record the change of frame correctly with the DVLA who are now insisting that the bike be re-registered either as a "Q" or on an age related plate if I can verify the age of the main parts. The DVLA have already issued a new frame number which I have had stamped up and signed off by my local garage. Both my grandfather and father would turn in their graves if it was given a Q plate! Is there anyone in the club who can help me to verify the age of the main parts of the bike. Virtually all of the bike is original including engine, gearbox, fuel and oil tanks, forks, wheels, speedo and tinware). It runs very nicely even after 39 years in storage and I enjoyed using it until the weather turned and the DVLA dropped their bombshell. Please can someone in the club help me out or offer some advice? Many thanks, Stephen Mann 07792 806662

Itâs all here: https://www.nortonownersclub.org/records-dating/dating ... in fairness to DVLA they have no proof that the reg Mark belongs to the bike, unless you still have the old frame? The club records officer might be able to help you keep the original number, you can only ask! Otherwise subject to an inspection you should be able to get an age related mark. Good luck and keep us posted.

Dan, many thanks for your quick response. Sadly, my father disposed of the original damaged 16H frame sometime after restoring the bike in 1975. 16H's weren't exactly worth much then and it was restored more out of sentimental reasons. According to the DVLA the process of re-registering the bike is underway and the original 1953 registration had just been deleted. I will use the link above to get a dating certificate/letter through the NOC and at least receive an age related registration. I received the V55/5 form from the DVLA today and I aim to try to get the paperwork sorted ASAP. I am looking forward to using the 16H again as soon as the weather improves and the salt has disappeared. Regards, Steve
