now I see Kent Police filling up at Asda!
English police cars seem to be mostly BMWs now. Munchen's finest stallions appear quite happy to run on 95 octane with up to 10% ethanol acceptable - in fact the information for my new(ish) Z4 states there is nothing to be gained by using Pemium and performance on the road seems to prove this.
If the English police cars are genuine M5s then be very wary of them - they will outgun and out handle most sports cars. Fortunately I am in Ireland where they have diesel Skodas!.

AJD really. Skoda's? My daughter has a Ford Focus. It will eat ALL Skoda's for breakfast.
Sorry forgot to clarify that. It's an ST£ and has the 5 cylinder turbo charged Volvo engine. It has more grunt than a field full of pigs. In fact it is claimed to be faster than a Manxman, but could that be true or just an urban myth?

Well...................I don't think it (9-11)happened as we were told/shown on TV either. It WAS NOT Civil Airliners. We were duped. It was Santa out for a test on his new 961 Sleigh and Rudolph caught a piece od F.O.D. in his eye. Prancer, Dancer, etc were replaced surreptitiously.
Merry Christmas to All NOCM's

Very entertaining on a cold rainy December day.
My Dad once told me that there is no such thing as a free lunch.
Someone, somewhere, somehow it needs to be paid for.
I am hopeing that everyone has a safe and sane New Year. And don't drink and drive on New Year's Eve!!!!

Er. what have 9/11, police cars, and conspiracy theories got to do with a 650 scrambler? I am surprised that these comments have not been blocked, if there had been any criticism of Norton motors, it would have been blocked immediately! Anyway, how many would ever take an expensive 650 "Off road"'? Just another "Boy?s Toy", for posers.

I unreservedly apologize f…
I unreservedly apologize for feeding....off topic...not 'General'.
Regarding power... In the old days Rolls Royce famously never declared horse power, didn't they? "Adequate" was good enough. Racing has always encouraged maximum power for minimum cc, whereas in practice on the road other things matter far more. Power to weight maybe... Provided it is weight of entire vehicle plus occupants. Or maybe fuel efficiency? We are starting to see this in the market. Does anybody know or care what engine size is in a Prius, or Tesla, or even the top of the range McLaren? Do they even have engines?
Of course taken to extremes.. Isn't any bike with more power than a 16H a "Boy's Toy"? Not that I see anything wrong with toys..ð

Not designed for people who like old Nortons, but then the bikes they are likely to buy are, for instance, let's see, oh yes, of course: old Nortons.
This new Norton is for people who are likely riding or considering a KTM, or anything with a Rotax engine. And why not build a bike for this constituency? They are plentiful and they spend money.
I like all types of machines, but have a strong instinct about aesthetics and needless complication, like electronics putting an engine in limp mode because a rain droplet on the sight glass obscured the reading of the oil-level sensor!
For a petrol engine to run, all you need is Air, a Spark and Fuel, so then New technology puts a zillion things in between the process to go wrong! Plus the quintessential thing about motorcycles was/ should be that they are light and mechanically simple yet reliable and a relatively cheap form of transport. This is my humble view and equates to I believe its long term survival as a mode of transport!
Over the last twenty years there are huge amounts of modern motorcycles which resemble various insect forms on two-wheels, many resembling species of mosquito!

Aren't most old British motorcycle clubs just that Charles, I think you have hit the nail on the head, I have Norton's that have cost me the type of money, that could have supplied me a Super-duper non British two-wheeled, super reliable, mile munching super fast Leviathan; guess I need a reality check too!
