I have an alloy Manx style tank on my 650 SS Slimline. it measures 25 inches front to rear. 14 at widest point and 10 at rear { knee position }. Hope this helps.

Can't help you there John, it was on the bike when I bought it.

Approximate measures:

Manx -59, std 5 gallon, length 655 mm

ES2 in a -58 wideline 3 gallon, length 625 mm ( strap fits nice on a short circuit tank)

650SS (slimline) standard tank, length 550 mm.

5 gallon UK-made alloy tank for the 650, length 650 mm (needs a new crosstube for the strap)

I know there are some makers here, but I have heard horrendous stories about delivery times! I was also thinking of a steel tank initially rather than Aluminiun alloy, any thoughts on that?

Some tank fabricators locally, have suggested that 2mm Aluminium Alloy is too inflexible for vibration and that these so called professionals should be using 1.5 mm Aluminium Alloy plate rather than the 2mm they advertise!

A dealer in India has offered me a petrol tank in raw steel for £295, Shipping @ £65 and plus an award winning Paint job by India's top restorer for £250, plus £18 decals and £55 further postage to & Fro before Despatch, that's £683 painted!

£355 unpainted!

I have painted tanks myself before but haven't got the equipment or necessary workshop availability at present!

Anyhow it was the length of a Manx Tank I initially need to identify.

I have put a shot of the tank I was interested in, but without the curvature of the Manx frame and the Clip-On indents.

got same problem my self they only seen list wideline and i have only fond two in GB that list slim line and both out off stock and have been for for at least 9 months and so over priced away its a f joke and as for norton owners club they a waist off time never helped me with anything yet . Hi All,

I have had two ally tanks made by TAB II ( http://tabclassics.com/ )

both short circuit, one wideline and the other slimline.

They are of excellent quality and fit perfectly ( as they have frames ) and available with or without wrist cutouts, and if you talk to them nicely they can fit the cap on the left or right side and fit tap bosses where you like !

Prices are very fair with delivery times substantiallyquicker than quoted by anyone else and also very pleasant and easy to deal with.

Highly recommended !
