Andy Sochanik has messaged me concerning a potentially dangerous situation that may arise when using 7" sliders with 7 3/8" yokes. With a wheel properly centralized there won't be enough length on the brake plate anchor to fit into the slider retaining grooves. What I hadn't made clear in the article 'Don't do it my way' was that a special anchor arrangement had been made up to overcome this problem. Thankyou to Andy for highlighting the issue.

Interesting read thanks. And I shouldn't worry about misleading someone about using the earlier fork sliders. You say quite clearly in the last paragraph that you had to modify it. If anyone tries the same after reading your account you gave clear warning that modifications are needed.

Hello Maurice,
Congratulations on an interesting well written article in Roadholder and I for one look forward to reading part two. It is always a problem knowing how much information to include and not get bogged down in too much detail; it is amazing the number of differences between what are supposed to be ' the same lightweight Nortons '; i.e compare and contrast a 1959 De Luxe Jubilee with the end of the line 1964 Electra.
