There is no problem registering your norton in France

Look up FFVE on your computer it explanes everything

I live in france and have registered several old bikes and cars from uk

Unfortuantly I do not live near by but in Normandy

Some great roads in France, a pity they have dropped the speed limit!

I would suggest you don't declare it permanently exported until such time as you have it registered in France. This allows it to be returned easily and cost free if you have any problems.
