How long should the speedo cable inner be? Specifically, how much cable inner should show at the speedo end?
I bought a Venhill made-to-measure cable. Their first try fell apart after 15 miles due to shoddy manufacture. Second try lasted 250 miles - it flicked for a bit, then stopped altogether. On inspection, the end of the cable has shortened, and it no longer engages with the speedo (chronometric). The damaged end is around 1/4" projection from the inner cable's end ferule. How much do I need, and how much is the safe maximum before it endangers the clock?
