I have a question about poly grey. I painted my early 56 dominator in Ford Granada Pearl grey met about 15 years ago and its a silvery grey that looked correct but I had no worthwhile original paint to compare.
I'm now about to paint my early 57 inter and I've been reading about silver tints, gold tints and Gunmetal grey.
Does anyone know what is right for early 57, now I'm very happy with my Dommie and my thoughts are to just paint the inter the same colour but as it's a later bike would Gunmetal ( goldish) be correct or not. It's a Jan 57 if I remember correctly.
Cheers
Mark

I have a 1957 Inter and a 1954 '88' and they are both painted in Volkeswagon Platin which has the goldy/greeny tint that most punters say is a very good match to the original Polychromatic Grey. But as in many articles on various sites, who is to say what is the exact colour that Norton painted their machines from one batch to the next as it all depended on who was mixing the paint at the time. (No computer paint mixers then).

Thanks for the info, did you use a base coat and laquer, if so did you use a gloss laquer. Just curious?
Thanks

In answer to your question. The Volkswagon Platin spray that I usedwas quite glossy but I sealed it all with a gloss laquer.

Paul.
