As part of our on going 88 engine rebuild ,removing main bearings was next on the list . Crankcase in the oven was on the menu but I wondered if a turkey roasting bag would contain the juices and aroma which is not to everyone's taste especially if a desert was planned soon after ! It worked 30 mins at 180? and the bearings dropped out. Roasting bag opened outside and fumes " billowed out " kitchen and oven fume free ! Result !!
Wish I'd thought of that…

Peter, that's a brilliant idea and one that I'll definitely use.
The last time I used our oven - whilst the wife was out - was for a crankcase bearing too, but needless to say I didn't get away with it for more than a few seconds upon her return
It's a roasting bag for me the next time I change some main bearings.
