Hello all . I'll apologise in advance for being thick . I'm restoring a jubilee and it's my first British bike . I've removed the alternator as it looks a bit dodgy but having tested it ie resistance , continuity shorts etc all seems fine . I'm confused with the wiring, mine has a red , green and yellow coming from the alternator but most others I have been looking at have white yellow or green . Any thoughts please. Thanks Graham

The right colours are......
The right colours for Wipac on a Jubilee and Navi are WHT, LIGHT GRN and ORANGE. And the alternator is wired Common WHT,Lgt Grn and Org which are 50% Each of the available output. As opposed to the Lucas system of the 50s onwards for 6V(RM19) has 1/3 (Dark/GRN, GRNBLK) and 2/3 GRN/YLW.
BUT the Wipac on the Electra was wired WHT (common) LGT/GRN (1/3) and ORANGE (2/3). But on the Electra I have found that despite the 12V old style regulator still working, the battery was either under or over charging! So fit a zener.
In Grahams case, we have two points, the bike/alternator is over 60 yrs old, so any thing could have been done. To sort it measure the resistance, decide which is the common (WHT) and proceed accordingly. The common needs to go on one side of the rectifier, and if you are keeping 6V with resistor and alternator switching then the other two wires having the same electricity does not matter.
IF you are still confused/unsure then I can put fresh wires onto the stator.
