Lightweight Clutch Spider Hunt!

Forums

Hi All,

I'm on the hunt for a clutch part for my Navigator and I wonder if any of you can help, as it's not listed in the NOCShop.  It's Part No. 23610 "Clutch s/a centre", shown as Item 19 on Illustration Plate C of the Spares List.

My mechanic calls it a spider, probably because you have to carefully search the web to find any trace of one...  If you have a serviceable one I'd love to hear from you!

Cheers,

Nick

Hello Nick, I feel sure that I have 1 or 2 in my spares box. They are in good condition but I have no idea what they are worth, I guess if they are rare it must put them up a bit! Any interest? John

Nick,

A NOS clutch spider 23610 is shown available on this site. You will find the part has been scarce for a while.

Hope you find someone with a decent spider for your Navigator. The spider fitted to Navigator and Jubilee clutches 1960 to 63.

Hi John,

Yes I'm interested.  If you can contact me with a price I'm sure we can sort something out.

I have 2 spiders, both are in assemblies with clutch centre etc so I will dismantle them and check them out tomorrow.
Andy Sochanik has a comment in another topic with sizes of shafts etc.
You say that it is part 23610, which apparently is 1959 - 63.

If you can tell me the shaft dia's etc. then I will see how worn these are, they may be too far gone for you.

Well this transaction was going well until Royal Mail got involved. I hope Nick got his Nav. going well and I get my spider back when RM find it!

Hi John, Yes, all work completed and I rode Ethel back home from Ledbury yesterday. The clutch is fine now I've had the correct mainshaft and spider installed! Wish I could say the same for my 'laser' sense of direction though, I took a wrong turn coming through Gloucester and had to crawl through busy traffic in the sweltering heat. The bike sputtered a bit probably due to overheating but once back on the quiet roads she behaved very well. Good luck with Royal Mail!
