Hi, I think this must be the most often asked question, which oil to use for my 1962 650SS?
Can I use synthetic or semi synthetic?
If I use synthetic or semi synthetic do I have to clean out the old oil?
Many thanks for your help

Synthetic and semi synth will mix with the residue left after an oil change with no issues. If you want to reduce the residue you can tip the bike on its side to drain the cam tunnel and disconnect the tank return and watch the old oil flow out untill clear after an oil change .Its what I always do.I have used synthetic oil in the engine of my 99 with no issues ,I understand that roller bearings can skid due to the slippy nature of fully synthetic oil. Perhaps i am not revving hard enough to have a problem !.Its my belief that the oil is so good that a siezure is most unlikely and that i will not be able to wear out anything in my time left for riding.
