I have bought an Atlas engine ( I think ) with a head that I can't identify.
It has 32mm inlet tracks. with !.5" valves
Rocker oil feed is on the side of the head.
A casting number of 23166 and a "V" stamped on the top of head.
The 3 stud holes in the head are 3/8"
It's also had an external oil drain conversion
I think thats an Atlas head…

I think thats an Atlas head that has been modified. Looks about as rough as the casting on our Atlas. Surely a reject rescued from the scrap bin to complete a bike while the casting supplier gets his act together , or not, when you consider the porus Commando heads that followed.
