Rear light (again)

Forums

Hi all,

I have looked back through previous posts, but cannot find this one. I have a 1974 850 Norton. The rear light works when the ignition key is in park, and I can remove the key. When in any other position, it doesn't work. The brake light works when it should. I have tried changing the bulb, but still have the same problem. I have checked the wiring on the lucas ignition switch, and all appears correct.

Any suggestions would be welcome!

There was some years ago two versions of the Lucas 4 position ignition switch. The 'bogus' was used on the last Triumphs, in this to get the rear light to work as a rear AND in the park condition the 'bogus' switch had to have a diode fitted. I will try to checkout the Lucas switch numbers. Have you the diode? is it in the right way?

On the rear of the ignition switch. But the ignition switch Lucas number and finding the right Triumph circuit diagram is the real answer to this angle on this problem.

Hi,

I checked for a serial number on the switch and it only shows Lucas 7SA. It is a four position switch, with a parking position with key removal. It appears to be correctly wired, unless someone knows otherwise!
