This is the 3rd Commando stop light switch (WW10141 previously a Lucas #34815) that I have replaced in so many years due to the rubber boot having perished. They are Taiwanese reproductions but is there an alternative quality item on the market?
No sadly, they all seem to…

Thanks for response.
Thanks John, I thought that was the case. I’ll give AN a call and check.

Same issue
I have been using the same one for about 22 years. The rubber came almost off (Separated) after about 5 years (Low use and mileage) I super glued it back on and has been OK since.

All made by the same company.
I contacted AN and they told me that they are all supplied by Wassell and they probably buy them in from Taiwan by the thousands. I’ll try and source an original if possible.

Thanks for the info Paul, no…
Thanks for the info Paul, no real point in buying new ones then which I had thought but not 100% sure. NOS off ebay then it is.

Even NOS...
... may be wassell. They have always had a poor reputation dating back to the 1970s but for a long period were all that was available for many parts.

No sadly, they all seem to come from the same source and all degrade just as quick. I have kept my old rubber boots which must be getting on for 40 years old, I smothered then in silicone grease when I got them and still like new. Try Andover Norton and ask them to confirm their version is not from Wassells and the rubber will last as long as their fork gaiters do, they are the only source who may have worked to fix the issue. RGM is Wassell.
