I needed to take my 1962's 650SS clutch apart again. I ordered various parts from our NOC Shop.The parts I have a problem with are numbered 043441 clutch stud spring retaining and 040356 described on the NOC SHOP as clutch spring stud [but the illustration is clearly an open ended nut - among other clutch parts.
The old nuts were 'blind' [not open ended]. When I screw the 040356 nut onto the 043441 stud the nut does not screw all the way home and so does not become securely located in the clutch plate. It looks like the threads have not been cut far enough.
I presume there is some mixing and matching of parts from different clutches here.
1] Have I ordered the wrong parts?
2] Should the nut be 'blind'?
3] Do I need to fit a new clutch plate [the one with the permanent cork inserts] so it matches the stud and nuts I have bought?
4] If none of the above what do I need to order?
I am sorry if my explanation is not too clear but I thank you in advance for any help I receive and then get the 650SS back on the road.
