Wideline Pillion Footrest

Forums

I just bought some replacement pillion footrest rubbers from the NOC shop but they don't fit - the hole seems to be too small to fit over the footrests

I am guessing that either 1) I am not trying hard enough or 2) I have some other footrests fitted.

Does anybody happen to know what the diameter of the original pillion footrest shaft is? (mine seem to be 15mm or approx. 9/16 diameter . The hole in the new rubbers is around 12mm..(or just under 1/2")

They need to be tight other wise 'pillions' tend to kick them off! A tight fit can be sorted with petrol or washing up liquid. If you are lucky and they are too tight then they split-have fun. But in some respects this is an area that would have seen many variations and odd fitting so any thing is possible.

If your footrest rubber is too tight to fit, have you considered easing the hole, say with a suitably sized drill bit in an electric drill?

Had no issue with them.  Warmed in bowl of hot water, footrest in folded position and rubber mallet to get them fully home. Can also use an air line to help float them over the spindles, but that works better with Handlebar rubbers...

Do not use Washing up liquid it remains oily and they will turn.

The idea with the hot water sounds good.

Yes, they are the flat type, I will first ask the NOC shop if they are correct.

I bought some of the flat type for the slimline and they look the same as the orriginals but have a much smaller hole that would split if I fitted them.  My suspicion is that they are for the lightweight  and have been supplied in error. Perhaps thats what is happening ??.
