Hi all........my 1953 ES2 has a new (ish) Amal 376/1716 monobloc carb. The bike starts easily and runs well but on tickover (which is ok but not as smooth as I would like) it will spit back through the carb every few seconds. I have tried altering the air adjusting screw many times, the mag ignition timing has been checked several times and the spit back still happens whether full advanced or retarded......
Any thoughts please? (I haven't adjusted the needle height, it's been the same from new)...

I have a similar issue with my 99. I get it running perfectly, I fill up with fuel and it either runs rich and soots the plugs or it goes weak and spits back. I am beginning to think the fuel is not consistent. Perhaps the "slosh" mixing that is done at the depot is a bit rough and ready. E05 one day and EO 30 the next !!.
