Which Disk Pads?

Forums

The previous owner of my 750 Commando '72 has swapped out the OE Disc Calliper for an AP Racing Classic CP2696-38E0 Calliper.

The pads now need replacing so can anyone suggest a suitable pad as all I can find so far are high performance track orientated pads. The bike is solely used on the road so do not need anything too aggressive.

EBC FA016 in the base kevlar/organic version. You'll find them listed for T140/T160. You could also go for the sintered HH version for a but more stopping power but they'll wear your disc out.

With a broadly similar setup to Martyn's I needed some decent stopping power for the Commando + me + full panniers and yet more kit on the seat behind me. The sintered pads worked rather too well as I found on a roundabout in Italy where I had to stop in a hurry. I nearly dropped the whole lot onto the floor.

The answer, which has worked brilliantly (purists look away), was to fit one sintered and one standard pad to each of the two calipers. There may well end up being differential wear between the two pads, but so what?

My pads came from EBC Brakes Direct who provide an excellent service. Don't bother entering Commando details into their Parts Finder however as it returns the wrong item. FA016 and FA016HH are the correct pads.
