WD40 Degreaser - Warning

Just got my bike back from shop after some work (long story), they were very apologetic. They'd used WD40 degreaser spray (pressurized can) & splashes had got onto the tank where it produced the same result as brake fluid on the painted surface; they've promised to re-paint the tank when I get back from Belgium.

So, if you use the stuff be very, verycareful.

My old Dad used to warn me of the perils of degreasers and pressure washers. He was very much an advocate of paraffin and a brush. The logic? No point in forcing water into screw threads and bearings - far better something which will lubricate and preserve.

Sorry to hear this, Mike. Hope all is restored to how you were.

I use a degreaser (Blue stuff I get from auto jumbles in a 5 litre container) but only for use on concrete and slabs. Put that on the road and it will melt the tarmac! Makes you wonder.

Interesting, What type of paint was the tank painted with?

Not sure Dan, the DPO switched a Roadster tank for Interstate (I still have Roadster side panels), I suspect it may have bensome kind of spray can (Halfords? who knows!).
