Is there supposed to be a way of securing tools in the standard battery box, every time I open mine they fall onto the floor! Iâm considering fitting a removable seat and putting a tool tray under it like the deluxe!

My old jubilee had a lift…
My old jubilee had a lift off seat must have been a 59 then! Did that attach via little spring clips?

Yes the spring clips latch…
Yes the spring clips latch unto the shock absorber/mudguard bolt -it's a special bolt but easily made. The later De Luxe seat on the Navigator/Jubilee has locating lugs welded to the frame/suspension tops and corresponding locating pins on the seat legs. So there are in effect three different seats; the Standard seat, and two versions of the De Luxe seat.
As far as I know from taking measurements of original seats all three seats have the same seat pan and upholstery but the legs are different. Also the later De Luxe seat has an extra bracket welded on the back to locate a dzus fastener into the rear mudguard. So you can fit the early spring clip seat to a Standard frame fairly easily - probably; the later seat would be more of a problem.
The spring clips distort pretty easily so the seat can come loose !!!!. Probably why they changed to the Mk2 version.

I just wrap a few tools in a cleaning cloth and stuff this into the tool box and generally they stay there and don't rattle. I have a tool box under the seat as well but the snag is you need tools to remove the seat except on the 1959 Jubilee. The later De Luxe has a dzus fastener at the back of the seat so you need a screwdriver or an old penny.
The dzus fastener as used on the boot floor of an MGB GT can be used here and it has a useful ring pull attached to it and works well. (Something good to be said about the GT !!!!. )
