Swinging arm bush replacement

Forums

Has anyone replaced there swinging arm bush, from what iv'e read on other models it can be at right sod. Mine is soft where I can see it though not sure it is showing much play, but it would be easier to replace while stripping down and prepping for paint rather than later. Also the NOC shop is listing a pair nos shop soiled, not worried about shop soiled but new old stock rubber sounds like trouble.

i spent quiet a bit on trying to find bushes for my swing arm that were a press in fit and not the ones that push in with your thumb. i never found any press in ones.

looks like I might have to settle for a wobbly back end.. The thumb ones might work with the addition of loctite bush goo though.

Most of the lightweights will be running on original bushes, so I wouldnât worry about new old stock ones! The hardest job will be getting the old ones out!

Good words of wisdom from Dan. It is next to impossible to change the bushes so let them be unless they are completely dead. You will have to cut the old ones to get them out. Every one of mine is still on the original bushes and they work well enough for the amount of use they get.

Thanks all, left alone they will be. Seemed to be a good idea at the time to change them but points taken.

My navigator has the orginal ones (I have not riden it yet mind) but I have had metalistic bushes in my BSA C25 (I once wore a set out--old ones had to be burned out). I replaced them again as I hadthe frame powder coated and my Rickma Triump had them in as standard. Rickmans replaced them with PTFE bushes. It would be easy to adapt them for the Norton--use the Metisse Motorcycles or whoever is making metisse frames under license, hardened inner bearsings and stainless spacers--turn the plstic bushes to fit. I plan to this on mine when the orginal metalistic bushes wear out--they do last for decades however, espoecially if kept away from too much oil.

Cheers
