The spark plug wire ends will not fit into the coils of a 65 Atlas even after squeezing the ends. The wires will fit but once the ends are crimped on they don’t fit. What could be wrong?

This page shows the correct way to crimp a coil HT end. You don't need the tool but it will be neater. Confirms Jonathans comments about exposing the copper core by stripping some outer off and reversing the inner so its trapped by the crimp leaving the coil end with no cable to stop it being reduced enough to enter coil. If you don't reverse the inner to be trapped by the crimp that ends up with a large gap for a spark to travel before it even gets to the plug, doubt the engine would even run.

Jim, the cable only enters up to the mid point of the crimp, with the wire turned under and trapped in the rear half. The front half is the element that engages with the socket in the coil.
