Serial Number Plate

Forums

Hello all again,

Progress is going well on the Commando basket case which thankfully does have an engine serial number 20N3S/1331xx. Which I believe is a 1969 S with camshaft points which it does have on it.

But it is missing the serial plate on the headstock.

Is there an offical proper way to get one with the correct serial number stamped on it?  I have managed to get what I believe is the correct plate from Baxter Cycle here in the US.

Also does the club have a master serial number list with manufacture dates and such avaible here on line?  So I can be as correct as possible on the idenification plate if I have to stamp it on my work bench.

Any information on the bike or serial number or idenitification plate would be greatly appricated.

Thanks a million for the help,

William

The bike would have left the factory with matching engine and plate numbers being the same. If you had used Andover Norton they would have stamped the plate for you. You will need the build date for stamping on the plate so contact the club dating officer for the bikes full details and get the plate stamped.

Dave,

Thank you for the explaning the engine, vin and the correct plate id.   Also that is terrific link with a treasure of info.

Thank you,

William
