S&B Conical Airfilter

I haven't noticed any reduction in performance or need to alter the carburation. There is a slight reduction in the signature open mouthed Amal induction 'roar' but otherwise an almost invisible improvement in engine protection.

This is interesting Nick. It may have saved me a question--I have done a similar thing with the foam Ram Air filter that also fits inside the frame member like yours. I have fitted an Amal 1600 series mk 1 1/12--I use them on all my bikes (2 Triumphs 1 Triumph Metisse and a BSA B40 engined C25). How the Navigator will fare with one I know not but I have the jets recommended by Amal. I bought the filter at an autojumble (new) and it fits via an adaptor that I got with the body of the carb I have on the BSA (the carb was originally on a CZ125 and was found in a skip). I have splashed out on anodised slides for all of them. I use my bikes for work and usually reckon a new carb pays for itself in lower fuel consumption in a year or two--probably a year or 4 as I do few miles these days.

I have one of these on the BSA once and it worked fine--it eventually got too threadbare and I could see through the holes--but it was far from new when i got it.

I bought a spin-on conical air filter for the Amal Monoblock on my Jubilee from 'Classic Bikes' on eBay for £13.50. Nicely made and fitted in seconds.

And that price includes postage. Certainly looks good. I have a feeling it will be manufactured in China but if it does the job properly it is very good value.
