Rear chain lower part

Forums

Can someone confirm for me that the angled end of the guard faces to the rear of the bike, if it does fit that way around.

I assume the stub protruding from the swing arm, near the L/H pivot is the front mounting is one of the mounts?

How does the rear of the guard mount?

Thanks.

Hello John,

The lower part of the chain guard on Jubilee and Navigator fits with the angled end to the rear.
My photo here is the swinging arm from Jubilee or Navigator. It is upside down to show fixings for lower chain case. A single stud under the LH pivot. A bush further back, mirroring the upper chain case mount, and towards the rear axle.
I suspect you have an Electra swinging arm. This model never had a lower chain case because the rear brake torque arm needed the space.
So no downward stud at LH pivot. No bush under top chain case mount. And a strange tab underneath with hole to take front of torque arm for Electra larger rear brake.

Cheers

Thanks for the info Peter.  Looks like I may have an Electra swinging arm.  It does have the stud for the forward mount.  The rear mount in your photo is missing but what there is, is a vertical tab facing down.  For the torque stay on the Electra rear brake?  It has a 1/4" hole in it, big enough for the torque stay bolt?  See the photo.

I have what is clearly a (spare) Navigator swinging arm I could fit.  I would like to fit a QD rear wheel so that arm will be used for that project.  Therefore I'll make a suitable bracket to hold the rear of the lower guard using the vertical tab.
