My Dommie has just been joined by a very early BSA Thunderbolt.
She is a non runner, but has had a top end rebuild. It is an electrical problem. I intend to put an electronic ignition on her. Any suggestions of which is best?
And, I have been advised to convert her to 12 volt from 6v? Does anyone know how I can do this Any advice welcomed.

Sorry, 6 to 12 not the other way round!

Kevin, the A65T Thunderbol…
Kevin, the A65T Thunderbolt was introduced in 1966 and had 12 volt electrics from the very beginning. It seems like you have an earlier A65 (pre-1966) rather than a Thunderbolt. If so then converting to 12 volt is simple to do, as you have an alternator fitted. Fit a modern solid state 12 volt rectifier, and change your bulbs. The horn should be changed, but a 6 volt horn is OK at 12 volts for short blasts. HTH.
